Poker for Art Fundraiser

Fundraiser for equipment:  Projector, Laptop, Color Laser Printer & Camera.

Texas Holdem Tournament
For Adults and Teens 13+
$25 Buy In and One Re-Buy at $25 allowed. Cash, Check or Charge at the door.
-Fun tables available for eliminated players.
-Trophy Print for “Big Dog”, 2nd & 3rd place.
All proceeds go to Dranesville Elem. Art.
No poker skills required, knowledgeable players will deal at each table.  It’s all for fun, bragging rights and a good cause. There’s lots of poker tournaments televised on ESPN and other networks if you want to see how it’s played.  There are also thousands of videos on YouTube about the rules and strategies.
Sunglasses optional, shoes, pants, shirts must stay on at all times, even at the fun tables.

2013-14 GRACE ARTS Program

Please help bring GRACE Arts into your child’s classroom! This is a special program that the children (and the parents) really look forward to every year!


GRACE Arts is a Greater Reston Arts Center’s parent volunteer program sponsored by the PTA at Dranesville Elementary.  Parents are trained to teach one hour art sessions in the classroom. Each session covers a specific artist or genre of art. The parent will discuss the artist or genre and show a projected presentation, then instruct the students in a hands-on project. In the classroom, one parent teaches and at least one parent assists. For each project, we collect samples and display them for the entire school to enjoy.

Parent volunteers and the classroom teachers can discuss a suitable time for the sessions.  Docent Training Sessions are held in the cafeteria at 9:30 AM and again at 7:00PM.  You need only attend one session: morning or evening.  If you cannot attend training, we recommend helping a class that has a session scheduled before you teach.

This year’s program is four sessions:

GRACE Arts Kickoff

Today, Michael Stewart addressed an enthusiastic Dranesville Elementary School Staff.   The short but informative briefing kicks off the year for GRACE Arts.  Here are a few of his bullet points:

  • The “Old School” Calendar is posted in the main office for teachers to sign up for their classroom’s date/time.
  • Old School Calendar sign-up  is open until Sept 29th.
  • Each teacher needs to recruit volunteers(2-3) to be Docents.
  • GRACE volunteers will be out in force at Back to School night.
  • The four Art sessions are scheduled for Oct, Nov, Feb and March
  • GRACE Electronic PowerPoint presentations are now available.
